I can't think of a think that Access may be doing, other than maybe
printing larger qualities and causing the printer to overheat, that would
cause a jam. I have had print jobs that took hours to print on a high speed
printer. The printer was designed for that kind of duty and did not give a
problem, but I don't know about yours. As I recall the HP 6P is a older and
somewhat slow printer but a real brick and nearly indestructible.
The usual thing to go in printers is the rubber drive wheels get old and
no longer sticky.
While I don't think it will help, you may want to check to see if HP has
any updated printer drivers for your printer.
