printing from XP programs

I cannot print documents from XP programs (Word converted from WordPerfect);
and the document freezes up (not responding message) and I have to close it.
It's not the printer; i've reinstalled the driver and did a test page and it
worked. I also had printed stuff before it decided not to print anymore. I
gotta get some resumes out!
