Printing blank page not wanted

My printer has recently started to print a blank page before a document.
This has happened in the past. Each time I uninstalled my printer (Epson
Stylus Photo 870) and then reinstalled. Previously this seemed to cure the
problem. However, doing the same hasn't stopped the blank page printing.

I am running Windows XP with SP2 installed and have kept up with all the
latest updates. I am also running IE 6.

It is probably a simple adjustment, but for the life of me I can't think (or
remember) what the problem or solution is.

A solution to this would be greatly appreciated.

TIA.

[[Note Works with all versions of Microsoft Word.

If a blank page prints at the end of a Word document, you can easily delete
the page by deleting extra paragraph mark symbols () at the end of the
document.

To see what's contained on a blank page, click the Show/Hide command on the
Standard toolbar to display paragraph mark symbols that are normally hidden
from view. You may see just one extra paragraph mark at the end of the
document, or you may see a series of extra paragraph marks:

Word creates extra paragraph mark symbols when you press ENTER one or more
times after the last line of text. You can delete a blank line or a blank
page by deleting paragraph mark symbols that stand alone without other text
such as the ones above.

To delete blank pages at the end of a document
1. Press CTRL+END to go to the end of the document.
2. Click Show/Hide on the Standard toolbar to see extra paragraph mark
symbols at the end of the document.
3. Press BACKSPACE to delete additional paragraph marks.

After you're through, you can click Show/Hide again to hide paragraph marks
and other types of formatting marks that appear throughout Word documents.]]

Try going into the printer settings and see if you have it set for a
"separator page".

On my printer it is under Printer Properties-Advanced.

Hello Wesley and Clark,

Thanks for the reply. I thought of that at first, but there is no sign of
one there in the printer properties page for the Epson 870. In the
properties... you click on Advanced, then Separator Page and there is
nothing there. It is necessary to select a file which has the Separator Page
text on it. When running the printer to print a file from an Internet page
or printing a page from an application a blank sheet of paper is put through
the printer BEFORE the file starts to print.

I'm mystified!

Hello again Clark and Wesley,

I have just run a few files through and guess what? Yes, you guessed right!
No blank separator page going through. This was with a file from an e-mail
on Outlook Express. And one from a page on the internet from my Bank.

It's good to know that it seems to be working correctly now, but it would be
nice to know why it happened in the first place, and how it has seemingly
corrected itself! I can only wait and see!

Thanks again,
Terry
