printing blank page from Office 2002 apps

After installing Windows updates, I am unable to print
from several apps (Word 2002, Excel 2002, Notepad).
Printing from IE and Outlook 2002 works. I'm not sure
which updates were installed (this is my grandparent's
computer). It's an HP Deskjet printer. I tried
reinstalling the drivers, but that didn't work.

After some searching on the MS Support site, I found one
note that said to make sure "spool print documents so
program finishes printing faster" is not selected in the
printer properties. I'm going to try that tonight but
wanted to see if anyone had any other ideas. thanks
 
btw, unselecting the "spool print documents so
program finishes printing faster" option fixed the problem!
