Printing a document without the shading

I have a table in word and have shaded the rows for easier viewing and
navigation when using online. I would like to be able to print the document
without the shading, the whole document is white, except of course the
writing.

I can't seem to find a way to do this, except of course to select all,
remove the shading and hit undue after I print. Unfortunately this document
will be used at work by several people and printed a lot so that wont work.

Any ideas would be much appreciated.

You could add the shading in the form of colored rectangles, then clear the
'Drawing objects' checkbox on the Tools > Options Print tab. A lot of work,
however; and not much help if the document also has real drawing objects.

Or set the shading so it still works online, but is inoffensive when
printed. Twenty percent light-yellow works for me.

You might experiment with this in a copy of the document. Create two
identical table styles, one with the row shading and the other without. By
swapping styles, you *might* be able to toggle the shading on and off
without thoroughly messing up the table (it will depend on how complex the
rest of your formatting is).
