If the paper feeds from an open tray (not a drawer), the quickest way to
stop it is to remove all the paper. Failing this, here are your options:
1. While the document is spooling to the Printers folder (if you have
spooling enabled), you can double-click the printer icon on your status bar
and Cancel. Except in the case of very long documents, you can rarely do
this, and a huge amount will already have spooled to the printer.
2. While the document is being spooled from the Printers folder to the
printer, there will be a printer icon in the SysTray on the Taskbar.
Double-click on this to open the Printers folder, select the document, and
press Delete or Cancel. (Some printers also create a Taskbar button to
control printing, and you must use this as well as the Printers folder.)
3. Taking the printer offline will help eventually, but it will continue to
print until it exhausts the data already received; if the printer has much
memory at all, this can be a lot of pages.
4. Some printers have a Cancel Job button, and this actually works pretty
well.
5. Turning the printer off is drastic but quick. Be prepared to deal with a
paper jam when you turn it back on, however, and in some cases, unless you
leave it off for some time, the printer may actually remember the job when
you turn it back on.
