Printer & Scanner drivers quit working?

G

GB

Windows XP SP2, Printers HP DeskJet 970CSE and Epson 2200, Epson 4990, Nikon
Coolscan IV scanners . . . . Current drivers installed

Friends - Recently, about 2-3 hours after rebooting, when I try to print or
scan I get balloons telling me the device is not installed, or not working
properly. Or, error messages saying 'unable to find the scanner', and
etcetera. If I reboot, all is well for a few hours, then the problem starts
again - Thank you for your help - GB

You don't happen to leave the computer unused for a time? In DeviceManager,
USB ports, Properties, on PowerManagement tab, there's a power saver setting
that can do that ("Allow computer to turn off this device to save power")..
I always UN-check that setting.
