Printer installation problem

Upgrading to a new computer using XP home. I have a Lexmark Z53 with the
installation CD which I have run. Each time XP starts it says it has found
new hardware, the Lexmark printer. and it wants to install it. I can' seem
to satisfy this wizard. How do I convince XP that the printer is installed?

Cancel the hardware wizard.
Insert the Lexmark installation CD in the drive.
Run the installation.

You'll need to uninstall all software first for the printer.Once thru, power
off
pc,connect usb to other connection,start pc.Once new hardware starts,insert
cd,dont exit the wizard, youre printer software should start, continue and
finish
install, then exit new hardware wizard. If software doesnt run auto, open cd in
my computer (R.click),locate the .exe installation file...

Thanks to both of you. Both of you got me part way there. I had nearly the
same problem with the Lexmark and the Epson all in one. I could find no way
out of the wizard. It wouldn't let me point to the CD. Either way, if I ran
the CD I got the same "installation could not write to the registry" error.
It didn't seem to matter whether I tried to run thru the wizard or from the
CD directly. (I had all of the
firewalls and security turned off by now.)

I finally downloaded the latest drivers from Lexmark and Epson, expanded
them on my flash memory stick, and installed from there. For some reason teh
wizard allowed me to point to the flash memory but not the CD or a directory
on the hard drive.

Thanks again.
