I have a real sticky problem. I cannot install my LazerJet
1000 under Windows 2000. When I power up the computer,
Win2K recognized the printer correctly and tries to
install the driver. But at the end I get an error message
that includes the phrase "An error occured durning the
installation of the device. The printer name is invalid."

When I try to use the Install New Printer wizard, I cannot
proceed because there are no "local ports" available. Only
USB ports.

When I try to add a port, I get the message "The monitor
for Local Port could not be installed."

Where do I turn for help??

Check that your Print Spooler Service is running.

Start
Run
type
services.msc

<Services windows opens>

Navigate to

Print Spooler

ensure its status is Started and it's set to Automatic

That was the first thing that I try'd, i stopped it and
restarted it and aslo checked that it was set to automatic
on start up!!!!

Is this printer a parallel or a USB printer?
