If you upgrade from winxp and have some older H/W they call "legacy devices"
the WinXP setup program should scan your pc for any devices that *might* be
incompatible with winxp. If this warns you the HP is incompatible try it
anyway and if there is a problem download the latest "printer driver" from
HP. They have a driver for the 1220 that is WinXP "approved"....
Go to this page...
http://www.hp.com/country/us/en/support.html
.... and select "Download drivers and software". Then enter the name of your
printer "1220" and press >>
Then on the next page click on the link "hp deskjet 1220c printer"
Then on the next page click on the link "Microsoft Windows XP"
On the next page is a list of drivers and you probably want the first on the
list eg
"hp deskjet 1220c series printer driver (add printer, WHQL certified)"
Click "Download" next to it and select "Save". Save the file to somewhere
you can remember and when the download is complete navigate to that location
and double click on the file to run the install process. Follow any on
screen instructions.
If you have problems... It looks like HP have another version of the driver
you could try...:
"hp deskjet 1220c series printer driver (full printing system, WHQL
certified)"
However that version is 11 MByte so you really need a broadband connection
to download it.
