"Printer cannot be removed. Access is denied"

I have a problem with a printer on a Windows 2003 server, running
terminal services.

Whenever anyone tries to print to it, they get an "access denied"
error.

Whenever I log on administratively to the server, and try to view the
properties of that installed printer I get an access denied error. I
can't even delete, rename, or remove the share on that printer. No
matter what I try to do I get that error. Even if I logon to the local
administrator account. I've restarted the print spooler service and
the same thing happens.

The printer is called "Plain".
I created a new installation on the same server, pointing to the same
printer, using the same print drivers and the same TCP-IP printer
port, and called it "Plain-II".

"Plain-II" works fine. But I can't delete "Plain"

They should be identical in every way but somehow I am locked out of
"Plain"

The printer is an HP LaserJet 2430 tn.

Does anyone have any ideas on how I might delete the old installation
on the server?
I'm guessing something has gotten corrupted, but to be honest I am at
a lost.

I'd like to simply delete "Plain" and rename "Plain-II" but I can't
even do that due to the "access denied
" error.
