Print Spooler

S

Steve

I have Windows Vista Home Basic. When I go to print I get a message that
says "Local print spooler is not running. Restart the spooler or restart the
machine". I have done both and it still does not work. Please help, I need
to print some documents for tomorrow. Thanks much.

Look in the spool directory for any print files that may be causing the
spooler to crash when scheduled

\windows\system32\spool\printers

move the files to a different location, then start the spooler.

I would also open a Command Prompt, right click, Run as administrator

and type

net start spooler

if the spooler fails during startup, there will be an error; 1068, 1075
means there is an issue with a service that the spooler has been made
dependant of.
