print spooler

I just added and began using a Canon i470D photo printer. After a night of printing photos I shut down my w2k prof system. Next day when I restarted it, I got error msg that "Spoolsv.exe has generated errors and will be stopped by windows......" I restarted the service so many times, then the system and reinstalled windows....but problem persisted. I tried to uninstall the printer but it does not continue and finish uninstallation. It doen't let me do anything like adding a printer, modifying server properties, etc. Is there anything I can do other than doing a new install of w2k?

Any help will be appreciated.

have you tried reapplying the service pack after you've installed the
printer?
