Print Server on HP Laserjet 1000

Is it possible for me to hook up my HP Laserjet 1000 USB Printer with
a Linksys USB print server, or any other print server for that matter?

If an actual COMPUTER print server would be better, what operating
system would you reccomend? On my network I am running Windows 98 SE
and Windows 2000. I also plan on having a machine with Windows XP on
it eventually.

Thoughts?

If you have a TCP/IP network already established, use an external ethernet
print server. You can share it with all of the users/computers on your
network. There is no need to directly attach it. If the cost is a concern,
you can directly attach it to any windows machine (2000 or better is
reccommended) and share it out. Print jobs will be directed to the machine
it is attached to from other machines on the network.

Perhaps I was unclear.

I have a home network. I own a LaserJet 1000 model printer. It works
fine on my network hooked up to one of the computers except, A) The
printer obveously doesen't work when the computer is off which
periodically happens for one reason or another
B) There is an annoying firewall I would wrather not deal with

So I conclude an external print server, such as the Linksys one would
be appropriate. However, I am asking if this print server is
compatible. If not, could you reccomend one that is. My budget is
$150 US andchanging printers is not an option. Ide wrather not set up
a computer as a print server.

The LJ1000 is a host-based laser printer. It does not support ANY print
servers. Here is a link with more info. Note the 'supported configurations'
section:

This printer CAN be Shared with MS networking.
