Print job makes PC hang

I've newly installed WinXP Pro with SP2 on one of my client's notebook. The
problem is that whenever she sends the job for printing on a shared netwrok
printer her laptop hangs and it takes almost one minute to come back to
normal condition and then send the job for printing.

I've checked the status of any application casuing more CPU utilization but
CPU was OK. The shared printer is easily accessible from other stations on
the network and prints the job normally.

I doubt there is something worng with the XP Pro.

Thank in advance for the co-operation.

Check her firewall. Ensure the printing application has permissions to pass
through. It sounds like it's negotiating the firewall that's taking the
time.

To what is the shared printer connected? A print server or an actual PC and
if a PC, what O/S is that PC running?
