Primary Slave Drive

My primary slave drive shows up in the Device Manager and says it is working
properly, but when I go to explore it, Explore does not show it as a device I
can access. Does anyone know how I can access this drive in Explore?

I would guess you have been making copies of CD's and the root of that
drive has inadvertently acquired the 'autrun.inf' file of the CD root.
Delete that and explorer will show the drive icon again.

If it's not a problem referred to by Mark...

It's possible, of course, that you may be dealing with a defective HDD
regardless of the fact that the disk is detected in Device Manager and
indicates it's "working properly".

I assume that the drive was working properly and this problem just arose,
correct? It's not a brand-new drive, right?

Have you accessed Disk Management to see if the drive is listed there?

You might also want to check out the disk with the HDD diagnostic utility
that you can download from the disk's manufacturer.

Right click on 'Computer' and select 'Manage'

Under the Storage subheading, click on Disk Management

Does the slave drive show there?

It should have a label and also show a letter.

If there is no letter assigned, right click on the drive, and select 'Change
drive letter and path'
