I keep getting the following error in event viewer > system:

An error was detected on device \Device\Harddisk0\D during a paging operation.

For more information, see Help and Support Center at
http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp.

The error only seems to be occuring during boot up and i have also changed
the HD. I am using XP Home SP3. I have two HD and two Optical drives.
The Config is :
Primary Channel- Master: Samsung HD Slave: LiteOn DVD ROM
Secondary Channel - Master: LG DVD RW Slave: Maxtor HD

I have used the HD manufacturers HD Diagnostics programs and XP error
checking but there are no errors shown. I have installed XP on both HDs and
swapped them round i.e. Maxtor and Samsung HD on primary ide Channel but the
error still shows in event viewer.
Can someone please tell me what's happening and also which of the two drives
are causing the error msg to be logged (i.e. in "\Device\Harddisk0\D" does
the D correspond to the drive that would be D: in "My Computer"
Many thanks in advance for any help.

This can be caused by the Virtual memory been set by the User !
Try to Let windows manage the Virtual Memory for you by doing this on C:\
and Turn It OFF on D:\;
Right click "My Computer" select Properties. On the System properties click
on Advanced Tab then click on Settings Opposite Performance Options.
On Performance Options click on Advanced tab then click on Chnage opposite
Totla page File Size for all Drives:
Select C:\ and seelct this Radio button:
(*) System managed size
Then click on D:\ and Turn OFF Paging File Radio Button.
Reboot your machine, does it help?
If it doesn't help then you have a conflict in IRQs have a look in Device
Manager for conflict or malfunctioining Devices.

OK have set the HD to let XP manage the page file.
Have rebooted several times.
No more errors logged in event viewer so far!
Shukhran for your prompt advice.

p.s. the recipes on your web page look good, will be trying one soon.
