something about "if you've never seen this screen before
shutdown" So i did...when i tryed to reboot i got
a "Primary master hardrive failure" after pressing F1 it
said 'verifying DMI Pool data....Disk boot failure,
insert system disk & press enter... well of course i
don't have the disk...i think i can get it though...does
anyone know what this all means and is it a virus??
Thanks

It sounds exactly like what it says - a hard drive failure. They can, and
do, fail at any time. As they have extreme mechanical motion, the only
question is when, not if! Given time, they all fail.

Hi,

More likely a hard drive failure. Download a diagnostic utility from the
drive manufacturer and check the state of the drive. These are commonly
available for free and run from a bootable floppy. The tests will tell you
the condition of the drive, and whether it is a candidate for replacement.
Be cautious, as some of the tests can erase a drive.

Try booting up using the XP CD-ROM and choose to repair. Then choose the
Recovery Console Option...
Choose the number corresponding to your XP version and enter your
Administrator Password (then press enter).

After that you'll see a command prompt...enter the following command:

bootcfg /rebuild" command to fix boot.ini.
FIXBOOT will fix the boot sector on the boot drive,
FIXMBR will fix the master boot record if the NT loader
complains of a missing HAL or unmountable boot volume.

After the process is completed enter the command EXIT to quit (and the
system should auto reboot OK from that point onwards...

Use the FIXBOOT command ...chances are the boot sector got changed.
