loading screen

I was using the online webscanners from Trend Micro
HouseCall and Panda Security. Now, my winXP is
screwed and I can't get things back.

So I thought I would need to reinstall windows. I put
the disk in the drive, and it said to shut down windows
and boot from the disk. Things went through the usual
stuff. I saw the "Verifying DMI Pool Data" message,
then it went to another screen.

I had a choice to select:

MS win XP home Edition
MS Win XP Setup

I only had 2 seconds to make a choice, but then it went
to the setup screen, but nothing happened. The window
was black and all I saw was a blinking cursor, and
nothing else.

So, I rebooted, and got to the same selection screen. I
chose the Home Edition, and it loaded my settings, and
went into windows. Now, everytime I reboot or restart
windows, I always get that selection screen.

How do I get rid of it and have windows load automatically?

Thanks

Andy

Before you can reload Windows from the CD, you must instruct your BIOS to
use the CD drive as its primary boot device. On many PCs you must press the
Delete key very early during the boot phase in order to get into the BIOS
setup. If this does not work on your machine, read the manual that came with
the PC.

When you're in the BIOS setup program, look for the "Boot menu".

Thanks everyone, I think I solved this problem. I
managed to change the boot.ini file from:

[Boot Loader]
Timeout=5
Default=C:\$WIN_NT$.~BT\BOOTSECT.DAT
[Operating Systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft
Windows XP Home Edition" /fastdetect /NoExecute=OptIn
C:\$WIN_NT$.~BT\BOOTSECT.DAT="Microsoft Windows XP Setup"

to this:

[boot loader]
timeout=5
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft
Windows XP Professional" /noexecute=optin /fastdetect

and things are back to normal again.

Now, if only I can get back onto win-update. Oh well,
thats another story.
