Disk Boot Failure

Strange one here. Running WinXPHome SP2. Machine was working fine when I last
shut down. On startup, the machine runs POST and the usual message appears
"Verifying DMI Pool Data". Normally everything goes OK and I get the welcome
screnn.

Now I get "Disk Boot Failure, Insert System Disk and Press Enter" If I then
press Enter (without doing anything else) the system boots up OK.

Its as if it's looking somewhere else first for a boot disk

Can anyone help?

Maybe you have a floppy disk in the floppy and it is not bootable. And in
the Bios is set to Boot from Floopy.

IT is looking elseware for a bootup device. I hope your hard drive
didn't go south.

UPDATE

No floppy in drive and the hard drive must be OK, because when I press Enter
at the failure message, it boots up OK.

I've tried a System Restore as well, and I still get the same problem.

HEEEEELP!!!! lol

Saw something like that when the drive was the "slave" with no master.
Or a fixmbr is required.
