Jeff

Hi, when I try to preview photos,or any other pictures,
on my desktop it just says no preview is availible, but
the same pictures can be previewed anywhere else with no
problems. Can somebody tell me whats going on and how do
I fix it.

==================
Try this, maybe it will restore the option:

go to...Start / Run and type:

"REGSVR32 SHIMGVW.DLL"
(without the quotes)(Yes, there's
a space between 2 and S)

Click...OK.

A dialog box should report the following:

"DllRegisterServer in SHIMGVW.DLL succeeded"

I've searched every post ever made on this problem a couple of month ago - took a whole day. Noone has ever come up with a solution. This is when it's ONLY on the desktop.

The OP states that System Restore solved
the problem.

We usually receive so little info it's a wonder
we ever hit on a correct solution.

I read a million posts by you looking for someone saying "thanks that worked" but nope. It did happen to me last year but chkdsk deleted 95% of my files before I could find the cause. I put up with unable to r/c start folders for a year. Finally found the cause. AVG shell extension. I was working on this one too till horrid chkdsk.

.
I had a similar problem when trying to insert pictures
from a folder on the desktop into an email. I realized
that no previews of the pictures in that folder were
available (thus making the choice difficult!) if ,on my
desktop, there also was a shortcut to a website! After I
moved that shortcut into a folder, the previews came
back! I don't understand why...
