preserving drivers before a format

I have to reformat my drive and reinstall W2k but I don't dispose off the
hardware drivers, especially for videocard and nic. Is there a way to
'localise' and preserve those drivers and put them on cd before reinstalling
the OS so I can use them afterwards?
Thanks.

Locate the driver install files for your hardware and copy all of them
to a CD. Copying the driver files that are already installed will not work.

How can I locate those install files?

Depends whether you downloaded and saved or did a 'web' install, if so they
are likely to be in yr win* temp folder

do a search on the net for the drivers before you reformat
I'm sure you can find them. just download them to a temp
file and copy it to a cd..

Hi,
Did you figure this one out? Was it sufficient to backup the temp dir?
I am trying to upgrade an old Win98 (first ed) laptop and am afraid of
losing drivers in the process. Both the hardware and software have been
end-of-life'd, making the support issue an interesting one ;)

Thanks

It's highly likely that Win98 drivers will not work with Win2K. Before
attempting to upgrade, be sure that Win2K supports your devices natively
or that you can obtain compatible drivers from the manufacturers.
