Video and Sound Drivers

I had to reformat and re-install W2K Pro on an ASUS Computer
Model: A7V400-MX-X86-based PC, but found to have lost Sound and the Display
is now stuck at 16 Color. From the information that follows, I tried to
search and hope to (free)download appropriate Drivers, but I am losing hope.
I am certain this group could help out.
I used PCWizard to get Hardware Details before the reformatting and the
AFTER info is from the current status of the devices, as shown in the
Accessories.

I use an ASUS MB. A driver disk came with it and I must load this
everytime I do a complete install of Win2KP. Also, be certain your BIOS
is set up properly. Are you using the on-board hardware for video,
sound, etc? If so you really need the driver disk.

Thank you, Juan!
From the suggested site, I downloaded W2K&XP5-10-146-0.zip.
There was a compatible driver that did the job.
I do have Display capability, now. Next I need to download a Sound package
and see if that would work, as well.
Thank you, again!

Hi:

Did you check the ASUs web page?

I hope it helps.

It would have been great if I had a disk. As far as I know, I am using the
on-board Hardware Devices. Unfortunately, this (someone else's) unit had no
other besides the OS CD.
Could there be one available, somwhere?
I see no indication of one from the site that Juan Perez suggested.

I would send you a copy of mine but it is for an A7N8X-E Deluxe MB (AMD
chip). You'll have to go to ASUS.COM or a local computer shop ($).

Thank you for the offer, Stubby!
You mentioned, in a prior reply, 'Also, be certain your BIOS
is set up properly'. Can you elaborate on that? I did go in the Bios, but
failed to notice what might have been in trouble. However, I really do not
feel that I may have known if things were OK.
Thank you!

My ASUS BIOS has selections concerning "integrated periperals". These
let you select whether you want to (for instance) use the on-board net
controller or a plug-in card. If you have an extra net card with a
driver disk, you could try that. Same for audio and video.

On the video you get to pick if it is configured for 8x AGP or not. And
whether the VGA or AGP card is used at start up.

Have fun.

In the BIOS, I could not find anything like
"integrated periperals".
In the Advanced Display, under PCI Configuration, I saw that PCI/VGA Palette
Snoop was disabled. I enabled it.
I did the same for Midi Port Address under I/O Device Configuration ( also
disabled).
Nothing else apprared to be related to the problem at hand.
Enabling these two items did not seem to help.
Thank you for your time!
