Presenter View

..ppt 2007
When I finally get "set up" to run a Quiz using a projector and screen I
would like to be able to actually see the Navigation arrows etc, to the
bottom left of the presentation on my Lap Top without having to hover the
mouse. I managed to do this once, a black box with white Navigation arrows
etc appeared (I think) and at the time I thought this would be useful :)
but I have forgotten how I did it. I have been searching and searching but I
cannot find the solution. I presume the presence of exposed Navigation
arrows etc would not show on the large main screen? Sorry if I appear to be
talking in riddles. Please help:)

You aren't talking in riddles (or if you are, I understood them ;) ) If you
are connected to a second monitor or display (in your case the projector),
you can send one set of output to your screen and another to the projector.
To test this, connect a second monitor to your computer. Set it to extend
the desktop to the second monitor. Open PPT. Now go to the Slide Show tab.
Check the Use Presenter View box on the far right. You can then set the
presentation to be on the secondary monitor and presenter view on the
primary. Run the presentation and see if that is what you are looking for.

Thanks Kathy for your very, very quick response. I do have a second monitor,
small flat screen, so tonight I will ask my husband for help and perhaps I
will be able to have a little preview of what my quiz will look like when in
presentaion mode, is this the correct terminology? Can't wait to see if what
I have interpreted from your explanation has gone into my head correctly. I
don't mind asking my husband for help with this type of thing. I actually
went to PC World and saw a .PPT presentation running, the projector was
bracketted and attached to the ceiling, so it was a bit pointless for me to
ask for a demo, I think they may have had to have gone into their LOFT to
hook me up ! ! I wasn't brave enough to ask! They were very surprised when I
asked about "lumens" and different lighting conditions thanks to (Geetesh)
and (Echo) the weight of the projectors etc. I have had so much help from
this group.I feel my Quiz looks great but I don't really know:-(

Thanks again Kathy

MoMo (Maureen).

You've got the terminology down just right! When you get a chance, unknot my
reply to address and email me. I have a question for you...

I coudn't set up the extra monitor last night, my husband wasn't too well
and went to bed early - - unfortunatley the set up needed to be done in the
bedroom. If all is OK then maybe sometime today we will give it a run
through. I have copied your reply into my .ppt's folder in readiness to
print off prior to the show. Will be in touch. :))

Thanks Kathy that is exactly what I was looking for but unfortunately my
notes were absolute rubbish when viewed on my Lap Top and showing my quiz in
Presentation mode on another monitor. I set about re-doing the notes for
each *click action*
again so that anyone within our group would eventually be able to use my
quiz. I managed to do these notes just fine until I came to my first hurdle.
I will try to explain -
1. I have 6 quiz slides.
2. Each slide has 6 rows of questions and answers.
3.Start to run Quiz.
4. Questions in turn "crawl out" to the right until all 6 questions have
been exposed (Questions asked)
5. A Click action *appear with* enables all the exposed 6 rows to fill
with solid rectangles to cover the once exposed questions.
6. I now need to Click and make notes against this first slide for a second
time.
7. Then my Problem: Will any new notes that are still showing on this 1st
and subsequent six rows of questions overwrite my original notes that I can
see are still there?
8. All the covered solid fill rectangles will need notes to explain the
click action for the Crawl in/ Crawl out to action both the Questions and
Answers this time! Notes will be required.
9. I have all of the Click Slide on/off actions correct and all works well
throughout the quiz.
All that I need to do is make the relevant notes.

I did think of a workaround: Putting an extra note on the 6th fully covered
slide to say keep clicking and the rest will take care of itself :)) It
works for me!

I have tried looking at re-numbering the slides but I get completely lost
:-(
I can of course run the Presentation quite easily myself. This is not the
way I like to work. I do need to be able to make notes for other people to
follow. I do have an animated slide with music to start the Presentation and
one similar slide to finish. (8 slides in all). All Quiz slides have their
correct titles when viewing in Presentation mode.

Can someone help me please?

Sorry if this is double posting? I lost the end of my message.

6. Problem, I cannot manage to enter any notes when I return back to the
very first slide (which is now fully covered over) I need to execute the
solid rectangle Question/Answer crawl out motions following my last fully
covered slide.

I did manage a workaround by putting an extra note on the last slide to say
Keep Clicking and the rest will take care of itself! I don't like to work
that way so could someone please help me? I looked at re-numbering slides
but I got lost :-(
My Quiz has an animation with music to start and a similar slide to end - -
6 slides of quizzes in between.Could someone please help.

I am even making mistakes with my messages now ;-(

I have managed to sort out my quiz. I made duplicate slides, re-did all the
animations until I acquired the correct result :) I was able to add my
extra notes and all is well now, everything is complete. Finalised these
Quiz questions.

I need to do a couple more presentation. Perhaps Sing - long - songs with
music! Sounds ambitious but why not? I will then be able to apply for a
grant for a projector a with remote, and a screen.
Watch this space will be back soon!
