Recently, I began getting the message when opening some
applications, particularly some commercial apps running on
Excel. How do I get this to stop?

Hi Gordon,

You could try to determine the cause of the on-demand installation by opening Event
Viewer (eventvwr.msc), looking in the Application Log for Source: MsiInstaller -
Warning Messages Event numbers 1001 and 1004, double-clicking the events and reading
the Description.

You may also want to try posting to one of the many Office forums.
