Prefetcher???

Here's the problem a couple of months ago I reinstalled
Win. XP Pro. and the prefetcher worked just fine. But
then I made some changes in the registry where I set the
prefetcher value under
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Sessi
on Manager\Memory Management\PrefetchParameters] to "3"
(I can't remember the previous value) I've read that the
value should range from 0 to 3 but setting it to any
other value didn't change a thing. I have also disabled
some services and I think thats the main reason for this
problem but I can't find out which service (if any) it is
depending on. And one more thing I have also noticed that
after making all the changes the virtual memory is always
displayed as 767MB but when I click the change button the
value that I have set is displayed correctly (C: 800-
850MB) I'm not sure but I think that this started when I
disabled some services but I haven't been able to find
out which one caused it.

Prefetch needs Task Scheduler enabled.

Start | Run | Type: services.msc | Click OK |
Scroll down to and double click: Task Scheduler |
Is it running?? | If not |
Set Startup type to Automatic | Apply | Click Start button |
When started | Click the OK button

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Memory
Management\PrefetchParameters
EnablePrefetcher
Values are (0 = disabled, 1 = Application launch prefetching, 2 = Boot
prefetching, 3 = Both prefetching). 3 seems to be the preferred option.

Thanks, the Task Scheduler fixed the Prefetcher problem.
Do you know how I can fix the virtual memory part?
