Customizing PREFETCH

V

Visum

I am somewhat familiar with the regedit config of prefetch options, but I
was wondering if there was a way to list specific apps XP could prefetch,
whilst limiting XP prefetching others. Say, allow XP to prefetch Boot
sequence, Word, Excel, Visio (used multiple times per day), but not
Publisher or Access (rarely used), as an example?

Regedit options:
a.. 0-Disable
b.. 1-Application Launch Prefetch
c.. 2-Boot Prefetch
d.. 3-Prefetch everything

One cannot customize prefetch.

Add the /prefetch:1 switch to the end of the shortcut target.

I.e. "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office10\WINWORD.EXE" /prefetch:1
or "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Money\System\MSMONEY.EXE" /prefetch:1

Doesn't work with notepad.exe.
