does W2K have a 'prefetch' folder?

This setup of W2K4 has been on the PC for about two years. I STILL amazes me
how FAST W2K operates. Sometimes I still just shake my head afetr clicking a
program to launch. In fact, XP1 was installed about three weeks ago (late
bloomer) and I see a notable difference in speed of opening of programs, W2k
is faster! It's the same PC (dual boot). Checked performance options and
applications is checked on both OS's. Also, W2K is loaded with programs
compared to XP so I expected XP to be notably faster, yet that's not so!

To the question, where does W2K store 'prefetched' data, or does it? I
looked and looked for a folder similar to XP's prefetch but found none.
Would someone please enlight me as to why W2K launches programs SO fast
compared to XP, and where does W2K store prefetch data?

TIA
Vic

That's because XP runs mostly on hype ;-) I have had a lot of people
tell me that XP is so much better than Windows 2000 yet when I ask them
to tell me a single reason why, most can't! If you want XP to run fast
you have to get rid of all the fluff and eye candy and... yes you
guessed it, get rid of prefetching!
