It was suggested that I delete everything in the
C:\WINDOWS\Prefetch file to correct some possile
problems. Would that create any additional problems and
what does this folder do? Thanks, Chuck

it speeds up the process when you open a file that you have previously opened.
After you delete the contents it will get rebuild as you use your computer.

It is there to hold records of the patterns in which programs access
files when they load, so that next time the system can get on and load
then all in one go. No harm in deleting the contents, which will be
rebuilt over a few days. (It is not necessary as sometimes suggested to
do it as routine). But if you do, delete *everything* from the folder
