Prefere Nvidia over ATI

For anyone thinking of getting and ATI card I would like to just relay my
experiance. I have a Raedon 9800 pro that I payed a lot of money for about 3
years back. Recently I smelled something electrical burning and the video
went haywire so when I investigated it I found out that the fan had stopped
working I wrote ATI about it and they replied that it was not covered
anymore. When I had bought the card at the time it said lifetime warranty,
they obviously changed it since then and now has three year warranty. The
card was JUST three years old so I thought this was kinda crappy.

Now as far as Nvidia I highly suggest the BFG gforce cards, I had a gforce
6800GToc and it went bad I called bfg and they had me mail it to them. This
was on a monday so I quickly packed it up mailed it to them, by Friday I had
a new card expresse shipped and on my front porch. When I opened it they had
switched my card to another an 7800 GT OC, wow a free 100 upgrade!!
BFG offers lifetime warranty for their cards and as far as I am concerned
they have a lifetime customer as long as they keep that up.

Unless nVidia's 2D becomes as sharp as ATI's, I won't bother with nVidia. I
do play games but 90% of time, I need excellent 2D quality.

First of One

LeadTek cards have excellent 2D quality, at least in the GF3/GF4 days.

Of course, with LCDs on DVI this is becoming less and less of a
distinguishing feature.

At least it lasted a good while. The fans back on my GForce 2 and then 3
each lasted about six months.
I wrote ATI about it and they

Here's why...

....be sure to read the 3rd paragraph beginning with "Another reason".
Substitute the word "BFG" where you see the words "ATI's partners".

That is a stale argument from years ago when certain high pass filters
made for fuzzy convergences on certain OEM builds of GeForce2/3 cards.
Cheap components, inferior results. With digital video output and
display devices, that issue of 'sharpness' is obsolete.

If you did a side by side raster comparison of equally calibrated
display devices, analog or digital, neither you nor I could tell which
was powered a current ATI or nvidia card.

Yeah, if you ran an analog CRT at high res, they'd probably both
look like shit.

If it states 'lifetime warranty' when you purchased it then legally ATI
have to honour that. They cannot change their warranty rules
retrospectivily!

You bought a product with a lifetime warranty.

Nothing has been changed by ATI switching to
a 3 year warranty as far as your earlier purchase is concerned.
Your card is STILL covered by a lifetime warranty.

Send them a copy of the fine print and a polite request
that they honor their legal obligation voluntarily.

They do NOT have a choice in this matter
other than a lawsuit for fraud.

Perhaps, however, this is a Crucial-branded card,
and you need to take the matter up with Crucial
instead of with ATI?
