ppt viewer does not link to a specific slide in other shows

I have a presentation that is linked to certain slides in other pps, when I
run the program with ppt 2003, everything works ok but when I package it for
CD with ppt viewer, my links to certain slides would only go to the first
slide in the pps file. Is there a solution to this, or is this the limitation
of working with ppt viewer? I need to distribute the presentation to people
who some of them may not have ppt 2003.
Any help much appreciated.

Hi DORI,
I don't think this is a bug in ppt viewer. Perhaps it is the file itself.
Open PowerPoint. Click File > Open.
Then, select the ppt file from the CD-R/RW. Check if it runs correctly there.

You have to have the linked files actually on your CD. When you play it on
your hard drive it will first look to the parent folder for the linked file
and then search the path you hyperlinked to. It can find that on your hard
drive. But when you burned it to the CD it will look in the same folder on
that CD for the file but if it is not there sometimes it can't find that
linked file on the hard drive using the path. And certainly it won't work
on any other computer because the linked files from another pps program
won't be on that computer.

Even if you burned those other pps programs to your CD it probably wouldn't
work since it will first look in that CD folder for the file and then look
for it on the hard drive because that is the pathname your hyperlinked
stated.
