ppt does not display animations on some computers

I sent my ppt (in PowerPoint 2003) to several of my friends as an email
attachment.

Most of them do not see the slide transition and other animations, and the
sound (chime) attached to the slide transition is missing.

On my husband's computer, however, the presentation displays exactly as it
is supposed to.

What makes the difference?
I intend to include the ppt to my website, and I am concerned that my
visitors won't see the animations.
Is there anything I can do or does it depend on the recipient's/vititor's PC?

I am looking forward to any suggestions and explanations,
Monika

Dear yogalady,

Your friends may be using an older version of PowerPoint (2000 or older).
Regarding sound: it can only be embedded as a WAV file. Is your sound a WAV
file?

In 2003 under Tools > Options under the Edit table you can disable 2003
capabilities if you are concerned about your presentation not playing ...

Hi Sandy,

Thanks for your quick response!

I am new to PowerPoint, so here is what I did to add the sound file:
I clicked on Insert > Movies and Sounds > Sound from Clip Organizer. From
the Clip Art panel, I have chosen Beethoven's Symphony No 9, which is a
Windows Media File.

Is there a way to change this to a WAV file that I can embed into my
presentation?

You can get a free tool at http://audacity.sourceforge.net/ that will allow
you to convert sound file formats and do editing if you wish. It's a very
easy to use tool. Caution: the chime will be fine but if you do music clips
and that kind of thing the wav files get huge!

Hi Dr Rat,

I work with audacity for years, and it is indeed a great tool!

However, I could not open the Beethoven Symphony No 9 audio clip with
audacity, nor could I import this clip as "raw data" into audacity.

I have decided that converting this clip just does not work and added
Vivaldi from my own music collection to the PowerPoint presentation.

It has indeed become a huge file!
