PPT 2003 how do you get midi sound file to play?

I'm not able to get midi sound files to play in PPT 2003 presentations. Tried
several different midi files and no go. Or, I get it to play a time or two,
and then nothing. Is there a setting in some menu or another that needs to be
selected?

How are you inserting the midis?

If you're using Insert | Sound | From Clip Organizer, don't. :)

You'll want to save the MIDI from the clip organizer into the same folder
with your presentation then insert it using Insert | Sound | From File.

MIDIs inserted via Clip Organizer are housed in your Temporary Internet
Files folder (or is it the TEMP folder?). When this gets cleared out, your
MIDI disappears. Sounds like that's what's happening here, no pun intended.

Thanks for your tip Echo S! But, I tried your suggestion 3x and still no go.
Also tried downloading the orgininal midi file again, copied that to the file
folder, and then inserted the midi via your tip. Still no go. My presentation
deadline is getting closer and I'm begining to be really frustrated. Any
other tips?

If you put your presentation and the midi in a folder called C:\test, does
it play then?

(This is a test to see if the file path length is affecting the playback.)

Thanks for your help again Echo S! I'll have to give your latest suggestion
a go. However, today I had another thought and it worked. I Googled a free
program to convert sound files to different formats. Then I converted the
midi file to a wav file, put that in the presentation folder and then
inserted the wav file via your previous suggestion. Everything worked well,
and I'm heading towards my deadline with much relief. Thanks again for your
help! Crick
