ppt 2000 vs 2003 music transition

Have my class learning ppt. was working with my portfolio which has music inserted and transition but is older version. my new laptop has ppt 2003, but only the first song plays. when song ends, slides transition normally, but without music. HELP!

You'll have to reset your sound file custom animations, as PPT 2003 reads
these differently than, say, PPT 2000 did.

That page gives you instructions for what the custom animation settings for
your sounds should be. Look under the part where it says "And if you use
PowerPoint 20002/XP or PowerPoint 2003."

Right-click the sound's icon and pick Custom Animation from the popup menu.
The Custom Animation pane will open and your sound file should be listed.

Click the arrow directly to the right of the sound icon to pull down the
various options.

Select Effect Options, and on the Effects tab, click the radio button beside
Stop Playing after XXX slides. Put 999 in the box so the track will play
throughout all your slides, even if you go back and forth among slides. PPT
considers each transition a "slide," so you want to put a large number in
there.

Now check the settings in the Timing tab. To play automatically, the timing
should be set to Start After Previous with a 0-second delay.Click OK to
close the dialog box.

Depending on your animations and where the sound is on the list, you may
have to set the timing to Start With Previous.

It does. It explains how to set animations to play sounds in either PPT 2000 and
earlier or 2002 and later.

All Echo meant was that if you used PPT2000 or earlier to create a presentation,
you'll need to re-do the sound animations so they work in 2003. In other words,
just follow the 2003 instrux.

Hello,

It sounds like the "Continue slide show" setting did not get set. You might
have to trick PowerPoint 2003 into setting this since it's not available
through new Custom Anmation task pane or effect settings dialogs. Try the
following:

1) Tools -> Options
2) In the "Edit" tab, select "New animation effects" in the "Disable new
features" group and click "OK"
3) Select the icon for the inserted sound file on the slide it begins on
4) Slide Show -> Custom Animation (this should bring up the old animation
settings dialog)
5) In the "Multimedia settings" tab make sure that the "Continue slide
show" option is selected and click "OK"
6) Run the slide show.

It the presentation now works the way you want, you will probably want to
restore the ability to use the new custom animation interface:

7) Tools -> Options
8) In the "Edit" tab, uncheck "New animation effects" in the "Disable new
features" group and click "OK"
