PP2003 and Windows XP Tablet PC Edition

We have purchased several dozen Toshiba Portege 3500 and Gateway M275 Tablet
PCs at the university where I work. Several of these machines have a problem
with PowerPoint and the ink annotation. A user will open a PowerPoint
presentation in Slide Show view, annotate a slide, and later close the
presentation. After the dialog box about saving annotations appears, the
user will make their choice, and then PowerPoint will crash. I was able to
reproduce the problem on one machine and the details of the error were that
the faulting module was inkobj.dll. I have installed all the updates from
WindowsUpdate and from OfficeUpdate. Any ideas about how to fix this
problem?

Jason,
I just tried to repro this on my Compaq TC 1000 and I can't get it to repro.
Can you give me some more details:
1) Are they running the show from edit or as a pps? (You get different
questions as a show than from the editing interface)
2) How big is the show?
3) Is there anything else running that might be interfering?
4) What else is running?
5) Are they annotating every slide, a few slides, one slide?
6) When you reproed the error, did you send in the report?
7) are you running clear through the show or stopping it before it ends?

1. They are running as a show.
2. When I reproduced, I started with a blank ppt file.
3. Nothing that would seem to obviously interfere.
4. On the repro machine, the software for the wireless card, Windows
Messenger, QuickTime tray icon, WinZip tray icon, NAV Corporate Edition,
Synaptics Touchpad software, and the Intel Extreme Graphics tray icon were
running.
5. When I reproduced, I annotated one slide (the only slide in the ppt file)
6. I did send a report.
7. I am at the end of the show. However, some users have had the problem a
few slides into their presentation.

Jason,
I have not been able to get this to reproduce at all. I think it must have
something to do with the things that are running on your tablet. I don't
have the Synaptics or the Extreme Graphics icons, could either of them be
interfering?
