powerpoint background help

I'm making a powerpoint and suddenly, in normal view, all of the background
images and inserted objects disappear behind a washed out grey, the same
color as the powerpoint program background. (Basically the slide becomes a
black outline) In slide sorter view all of the slides still retain their
backgrounds and objects, but in normal view, I cant see them... Anybody know
why?

Wow, I don't think I've ever seen anything like that.

What version of PPT are you using?

I'm having exactly the same issue. Ppt worked fine the last time I used it
(about 2 months ago) and now, no backgrounds or graphics display in slide
edit mode.

Well, as I asked the original poster, which version of PPT are you using?

Ppt 2003 (11.8024.6568) SP2

I was able to fix my problem by installing the latest update for my ATI
video card (Just released in June 06). I suspect that this has something to
do with some recent MSFT update to the .Net display routines. My new ATI
driver needed to install .Net 2.0 before it would install the driver. Now the
graphics are back to working as expected.

Wierd, though. I worked on these exact files on the exact same PC one month
ago with no problems.

Glad to hear you got it fixed. Thanks for letting us know what you did --
I'm sure that will help others experiencing the same issue.

I was asking about the version because 2003 out of the box had problems
displaying some graphics. The fix for that is to install SP1 (or now, SP2).
