Is there going to be a problem using a router and then using standby,
hibernation etc.? Obviously the connection will be broken and will need
to be remade each time, but I read somewhere that it was best not to do
this but I don't know why!
Is it OK to do this?

No, there shouldn't be any problem.

The router doesn't "break" your connection to the internet. It merely
inserts itself between your computer and the internet. And even if it did
break your connection to the internet - that has nothing to do with your
computer's ability to enter and come out of Standby or Hibernation.

No problem, I do this on my computer. But you will have to disable "Allow
this device to bring this computer out of Standby" in the Network Device
Properties located in Device Manager. If you do not, the router will
constantly wake up the computer when it tries to go into Standby mode.

That's good, I thought there was something I had forgotten about.
Thanks for that.

Thanks Ted.
