Power Properties Problem

Under Power Properties Advanced Tab, I should be able to direct the laptop to
standby or hibernate when I close the lid. But, wouldn't you know, the
critter just stays on. What should I do?

Maybe you have a hardware problem where the sensor for the lid isnt indicating
"closed".
