POWER POINT EFFECTS

Hi! i just want to know if Power Point has an option to use all its
effect altogether without setting up one-by-one under the following
effects; i.e. Animation Schemes, Custom Animation & Slide Transition. I
want to apply ALL these effects together - each of them with my
presentation which are 80 pages. As I experience when I need them with
my presentation I'll have to do it manually (one-by-one) each Animation
Schemes. It took many hours for me to do this... does any one knows if
Power Point has an option to apply all its effects to a presentation
altogether??? like other software e.g. webshots all its effects can be
applied altogether by Ticking boxes corresponding to effects name...
PLEASE HELP! Jerry

For slide transitions and animation schemes, after you set it, just click
apply to all slides.

As for custom animations, you can make use of Slide Master to apply a
default effect to the placeholder.
Click View > Master > Slide Master.
Then, click on the placeholder(the one that says: Click to edit master title
style, click to edit master text styles and etc).
Next, click Slide Show > Custom Animation. Add the effect you want. Close
Master View after you have completed adding the effect/s.

Would the option for "random transition" be acceptable?

Otherwise, you can go to slide sorter view, select some slides, and apply
the transition to the selected slides. Then select some different slides and
apply a different transition. Repeat until all slides have a transition
applied.

I have tried using the random transitions in Powerpoint 2002, but I find when
I view the slide show the program only uses 2 or 3 basic transitions instead
of the array available. Can you explain this? Is there a way to fix it?

That's unusual -- usually people complain that the random transition uses
transitions they don't want, because it does use *all* the transitions!

I think the random transition is pretty much at PPT's discretion. What you
can see of the transitions might have to do with your slides, though. If
there are elements on the slides that repeat, they won't always seem to
transition when certain transition effects are used. For example, a logo in
a corner of a slide won't seem to change if the "box" transitions are used.

It's puzzling me as well. It works fine on my computer at work (where I'm
using Powerpiont 2000). Here at home I get only one or two transitions, but
mostly the slides just jump from one to another as if I had selected No
Transition. I guess this isn't a glitch in the program anyone has heard
about?

No, but if the file works on your computer at work, but not on your system
at home, I'd tend to suspect the video driver or hardware acceleration. See
How to set graphics hardware acceleration back
http://www.rdpslides.com/pptfaq/FAQ00129.htm to turn down hardware
acceleration. Or see if there are updated drivers for your video card.

Thanks. I discovered if I set the resolution to the lowest setting I get
more of the effects. Would upgrading the video driver help with this?

It might. It's certainly worth a try.

If you're using Windows XP, set a restore point so you can go back to your
current settings if the updated video driver doesn't do the trick.
