Power Adapter Issue

For the last several days, when I plug the power cord from the AC adapter
into my HP ze4101 laptop, the prong (that goes into the laptop) quickly heats
up and becomes too hot to even touch after only a few minutes. Is this an
issue with the battery? the AC adapter? Any ideas?

High resistance connection at the point of connection. Either replace the
AC adapter or cord so that you get a new connector to plug into the laptop
OR the connector in the laptop is faulty in which case you will likely need
it to be replaced by a repair shop.
