Posting large quantity of photos in FrontPage 2002

Joe D.

I have about 1,500 photos I need to post to a website. Someone has
provided a spreadsheet with the photos which lists the subject name
and corresponding filename for each photo.

Obviously, this is a rather large spreadsheet to simply import into
Frontpage. Is there a way to break this up in Excel, Access, or
Frontpage to multiple pages for the web? Either they can be 50-100
lines per page or alphabetical pages. I would love to find out a way
to set up a tab header on the pages to select a alphabet letter to
change pages. However, the main goal is to get this down to
manageable page sizes with as little manual intervention as possible.

Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!

Kinda depends on what the page needs to look like; do they need to be displayed as hyperlinked thumbs, full-size, or can do you want to pull them from a db?

No matter which approach you decide to take, you'll probably want to use something like IrFranview image processing software (freebie, and excellent) to batch process them. You can batch rename, resize, thumbnail, optimize all of them at once in a few minutes.

Once you have them processed you'll Import them into FP (usually into the Images folder). Once there you can use any approach you decide on to display them.

Hyperlinked thumbs is preferred. Thanks for the suggestion on
IrfanView, I have been using it a couple of years already. These are
actually already properly sized and cropped. I know about FP's image
gallery. I was hoping not to have to type in the name for each photo,
though. That's why the spreadsheet was going to save me some time if
I could find a way to convert it into multiple pages or have FP's
gallery import it.

Thanks

yah, with the right skin that should work. Most of the skins allow for captions too.

Does it import a spreadsheet index? If not, I am already using a
similar program called Arles Web Photo Editor. I checked the jalbum
site and did not see a reference to such a feature. I may download
and try it anyhow.

Thanks

Joe

No, don't think it can do that.
