Post installation WinXP SP2 Splash Screen

N

Nick Powers

Hello,

I hope someone can help me out. I've installed SP2 on several computers on
my network. I downloaded SP2 from:

http://www.microsoft.com/technet/prodtechnol/winxppro/maintain/winxpsp2.mspx

Installation was quite straightforward and all computers are up and running
without any problems.

One thing however: I've noticed that the splash screen when Windows is
loading just says: "Windows XP" and no longer has the "Professional" or
"Home Edition" that the computers were displaying prior to the SP2
installation. Can this be changed to reflect the version of Windows XP that
is installed on that particular computer? Any assistance would be much
appreciated.

Thanks,

Nick

Nick;
This is a change Microsoft made with SP-2.
As far as I know there is no way to change it.

Thanks Jupiter! The new splash screen isn't much of a bother at all.

Thats the way SP2 works,
maybe someone will come up with a work-around later.
But thats the way SP2 is now,

Dan;
This change only affected the initial splash screen.
All other references where it stated Home or Professional are still
there.
