Hi, can anyone help with this please.
I am on XP Home/SP2 and have recently been experiencing BSOD with two error
codes 0xF4 and 0x77 (mostly this one). I have not installed any new hardware
or software.
chkdsk works then stops with a problem and the AVG programme I have also
stops and usually produces a BSOD. I have since uninstalled this and
installed AVAST which did a very comprehensive scan finding many errors and
then this also stopped with "unknown hard disk error".
Although the system boots up normally, it sometimes continues without a
problem and on occasions produces a BSOD with one of the above stop messages.
as a non-techie!, can anyone suggest what maybe wrong here, is it software
or maybe an actual disk problem?, nothing ever really tells you the actual
problem.
Is their a independant programme that can actually produce a report telling
me I have a faulty disk?, or something similar?.
any suggestions gratefully received, thanks
