My computer is possessed. Please help. While I am
working in Office, menus start to pop up and the computer
scrolls through choices and the selects one. If I don't
quickly close the menu, the computer takes action.

What is going on? How do I stop it?
thanks
david

Apparently, you are being hijacked.
Either someone has remote control of your computer, or you have malware.
Hopefully, you would know whether you have your computer set up for remote
assistance.
In the case of malware, you need to be current in your antivirus software,
as well as download Spybot and AdAware, two free programs that can detect
and help eliminate the malware.

Do you have a microphone on?

The fact that you seem to be using your real email address in your newsgroup
posts tells me your security measures need to be fine tuned.

1. Avoid using your real email address in NG posts.
2. Install an anti-virus program and keep it updated (AVG is a free one,
from Grisoft).
3. Install an anti-spyware/anti-adware program and keep it updated (Ad-Aware
is a free one, from Lavasoft).
4. Keep your operating system updated by clicking on the Windows Update
button, but DO NOT respond to so-called "updates" that arrive in your inbox
or which are posted in newsgroups. They will invariably contain a virus as
an attachment. Microsoft does not send unsolicited email, and they do not
post "updates" to newsgroups.
5. Do not open attachments, even from friends, unless you are certain as to
the contents. Often email supposedly from friends will be received, and will
include an attachment containing a virus. The friend will not even be aware
of that attachment, or that email - because his/her address book has been
infected and the virus spreader is using it to send the poison to everyone
in the address book.
6. Install a firewall.

Hope this helps.
