Ports

I have been having a problem with my D-link wireless router losing it's
connection when Outlook attempts to download email, POP3/SMTP. It gets 3 or
4 emails and then the connection drops, I get error 0x800CCC0F. D-link
support tells me that I need to setup the router to allow Outlook to access
the ports it needs.
What are the ports that Outlook uses?

You can check that information in your account configuration. Check the
control panel > mail applet.

D-Link people are blowing smoke. If you can get any connection at all, it
can't be a port issue. The ports must be open or you wouldn't have been able
to receive any mail whatsoever.

I suspect an MTU problem. Try reducing the size of the MTU value in the
router. If, for example, the value is 1500, try reducing it to 1400 and see
if that changes things.
