I keep getting pop up's on my p.c. everytime i switch my computer on if it
is connected to the internet. whether i am using the internet or not. I have
reformated my hard drive and i still get the same problem.

It is a Gray and Blue pop up which says at the top messanger Service in
blue, then a gray advertisment underneath. if i leave my computer on for long
periods at a time i end up with about 100 of these pop up's on my screen

I am not sure if these are microsoft messages or not

It has messages like my registry system is corrupted

how do i get rid of these annoying pop ups

These are spam popups coming in because you haven't updated your operating
system to Service Pack 2 ("SP2") and you don't have a firewall. Since you
haven't done this basic maintenance and security, there is a good
possibility you also have malware on your computer.

Temporarily, disable the Messenger service.
Start>Run>services.msc [enter]

Scroll down to Messenger, stop the service and change it to "Disabled".

Take the machine off the Internet and any networks and make sure it is
virus/malware-free:

Once you know the machine is clean, prepare for SP2:

Are You Ready for WinXP SP2? -
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?pr=windowsxpsp2

Download full SP2 - http://tinyurl.com/5bobl
Order SP2 on CD from MS - http://tinyurl.com/6g675

Follow the Service Pack Installation Checklist -

SP2 links to OEMs - http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/sp2/oemlinks.mspx

Guidelines and Troubleshooting

Make sure your data is backed up and you've done all necessary preparation
before installing SP2. Installing SP2 will give you the Windows Firewall
and disable the Messenger service.

If the procedures look too complex - and there is no shame in admitting this
isn't your cup of tea - take the machine to a professional computer repair
shop (not your local version of BigStoreUSA).
