can I do to stop this.

Do you have a cable modem? Is it a SurfBoard from Motorola? (I'm just
guessing here so bear with me.)

Is it plugged into a USB slot instead of a NIC?

Turn it off, unplug it, reboot, plug it back in, turn it back on.

Just humor me if you will...

It happends when my eTrust AV is trying to update virus list, but it is
expired so CA server refuses conection.
I just uncheck "update automatically" option
