POP-ups on different PCs

D

Dean J. Garrett

On my office PC, I get many pop-ups, but when I go home and browse to the
same websites, I don't get pop-ups. This seems to say that the pop-ups are
tied to a specific PC. Are there cookies I can delete on my office PC that
would get rid of the pop-ups? I'm using IE6.

Thanks!

Dean,
The first thing to do is to scan your system for the possibility of
unknown\unwanted spyware or parasites that may be causing your problem(s).

Are you on a LAN at the office? Check the title bar on the pop-ups to see if
they include "- Microsoft Internet Explorer". If they don't, they could be
Windows Messenging alerts, a service, which was intended for the use of LAN
administrators to announce an imminent server shutdown. The office's server
or router may need reconfiguration to block external alerts. I am referring
to a service which is NOT related to either the MSN or Windows Instant
Messenger / buddy list applications.
