Hi,

Is there anyway to stop the annoying pop ups that are
caused due to a security flaw in xp?

I think its due to a file called ncprov.dll - if so is it
ok to remove this?

You may be describing Messenger Service spam:

I'd not start deleting .dll files, you never know where that will lead!

If this is messenger service spam, you can go to www.grc.com and download
Gibson's "shoot the messenger" program. It will turn off the messenger
service without deleting anything and should not cause any problems for
your system.

Why not just go to the administrative tools control panel/services and
disable messenger. Serves no purpose for an individual user -- except to
open another door for spammers.
