Pop up Problem

When searching for a new budy icon at an AOL sight, a pop
up add got stuck in my HP pc that interferes with my
internet access and occasionally causes word programs to
freeze. I then have to restart. I have already cleared
all history and files on the tools section of the internet
explorer to no avail. Can you help?
